The sky was overcast and the weather cool, as 10 bikes headed up Greenhill Rd, with Martin Blindell, leading us to Lobethal, for our morning stop. Before we set out Martin, warned us that our ride to Lobethal, would be devious. That was an understatement! To try to fill in all the lefts and rights would be tedious for you and difficult for your reporter. Suffice to say that at the morning stop we all admitted that we had been on roads we had not been on before! To give an idea of the variety of roads, we crossed 2 km of unsealed road as well as the SE Freeway from Bridgewater to Hahndorf. The places we passed through included, Piccadilly, Bridgewater, Hahndorf, Balhanna, Lenswood, Woodside, and Mount Torrens, before arriving at Lobethal Bakery.
A relaxing 45 minutes was spent over our coffee’s discussing a wide range of topics. It was also decided, unanimously, that on no account should politicians be permitted to run the country. Only four bike set out on the second half of our ride, with your reporter leading us to Mt Pleasant, via Checker Hill Rd, Martin Hill Rd, and Cricks Mill Rd, to a pleasant lunch at the Lovell’s Bakery.
Lunch being over we proceed to Lobethal, via Angas Creek Rd and Burford’s Hill Rd, we parted company at the Swamp Rd Greenhill Rd junction. A thoroughly enjoyable ride in all respects, the only question is why so few riders?
Next ride: Wednesday 3rd April. Hope you can make it!
