It gives me much sadness to report the passing of one of our life members and regular great bloke, Les Tapping, on Monday just after 8:00am. He will be sadly missed at the club and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his sister Mary and family.
The funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday 7th June at Harrison Funeral Chapel, 173 Port Rd, Queenstown.
Les Tapping (Member No. 135) joined our Club in 1974, and held continual membership for the next 45 years, during which time he was awarded Life Membership. He served on the Committee in various capacities, holding the positions of, Treasurer 1978/80,Club Captain 1991/97,Assistant Librarian 1988/2000, and Welcoming Officer 1983/87. Les could always be relied on to help the Club in any way he could, and it is fair to say that His efforts contributed to our Club prospering to enjoy the healthy position it finds itself in today. Les was noted for his input during the General Business part of our General Meetings, to pass on valued trivia comments, and his fertile mind ensured that the topics were of a general knowledge nature, and not always associated with motorcycles. During his active riding days Les was well recognised on his various Moto Guzzi models. He will be greatly missed around our Club. RIP old friend.

Only 5 riders turned up today for the midweek ride which was a considerably shorter ride than normal (approx 180kms) due to the extreme heat. We stopped at the bakery in McLaren Flat and had a blast down Range Rd, Enterprise Rd, Nangkita Rd and Bull Creek Rd. Well done to the hardcore group who made the effort – your club is proud of you.
Sadly, fellow COMCC member Paul Knapp passed away on Wednesday 26th September. Paul will be missed around the club by his friends and all members who knew him. Paul was a real gentleman and our sympathies go to his wife Edna and son Peter.
The Mods & Rockers show on Saturday 13th October at Marcellinas, Semaphore will now be held in his honour.

Have you heard of the proposed changes to motorcycling licences as put forward by Adelaide University’s Centre for Automotive Safety Research for the Transport Department? In brief here are the proposals:-
Other changes such as not using phones, not being allowed to tow trailers and not being allowed a pillion passenger have also been put forward.
The 36-page review, entitled Recommendations for a graduated Licencing System for Motorcyclists in South Australia, rules out mandatory protective clothing, but it urges other measures such as improved infrastructure spending, better vehicle technology as well as training and police enforcement. There seem to be no proposals for advanced training.
The report is on this website https://yoursay.sa.gov.au/decisions/mc-licensing/ while submissions can also be sent to DPTI.roadsafety@sa.gov.au The consultation closes on February 16.
Several people have been asking about lane filtering on South Australia roads. What is lane filtering? Are motorcyclists allowed to lane filter? When is it safe to do so? Here is a video which appears on the DPTI South Australia website. This is the official DPTI version, so it may be treated as gospel.
