Monthly Ride, Mannum

3 Jun
14 bikes turned up at Hawthorn Crescent, 10 o’clock started us up Greenhill Rd, to Balhannah, Littlehampton and Nairne, where we stopped at the public loos for a few minutes. Then down the Old Murray Bridge Rd, to the Monarto, turn off, through Monarto, to the Mannum Rd, turning right at Adelaide Rd, and onto Mannum, a right turn on Neil St, and we were at the museum.

None of us had been to the museum at Mannum before, but a few had visited when it was at Peterborough. It is a splendid display of mostly smaller bikes many we had never heard of, but some well known makes as well. A 50cc Ducati, was a bit of a surprise!

A bit after 12 we mounted up and rode to the Mannum Community Club for lunch. The club was very welcoming, the meals excellent and the prices affordable.

It required a little prodding to get the guys back on their bikes, but by 1:45pm we were on the road again riding to Walker Flat where one of us filled up, then straight to Mount Pleasant, where we split up.

A very enjoyable ride, we will definitely do it again!
Thanks to Louis for riding Tail End all day and to all the riders thanks for the company!
Next ride: Tuesday 4th June, Ray Hill will be leading us on a mystery ride leaving Hawthorn Crescent 10am.

Midweek Ride, 24th May

27 May

At 10am, 14 bikes left Hawthorn Crescent and followed Tony Mitchell, up Greenhill Rd, turning left at Swamp Rd, then Lobethal Rd, Tiers Rd, right turn in Woodside, on to Ambleside Rd, a zig zag in Hahndorf, took us to River Rd, and Echunga, where we stopped for a delicious morning Cuppa, at the Plough Cafe, a first time for the club rides, but not the last.

Morning break over we set out for Macclesfield, via Flaxley and Stamps Rd, then to Meadows, with a hard left turn onto Bull Creek Rd, right at Alexandrina Rd, left at Winery Rd, onto Finniss, Clayton and the Milang Bakery, where the remaining 7 riders had a relaxed and enjoyable lunch.
The ride more or less broke up in Milang, though most riders followed Tony to Strath and Meadows.
It was a particularly enjoyable ride, the traffic was light, the weather spectacular and Tony chose some memorable roads for us.
Thanks Tony! And thanks to all who rode with us!

Next ride: Sunday 1st June, leaving Hawthorn Crescent 10 sharp for River Ride Motorcycle Museum followed by lunch a the Mannum Community Club.
Be there or we will talk about you!

I have just learnt that long time COMCC member Lee Longmire passed away yesterday at Eldercare, Hope Valley at the age of 96. Lee has been a member of the club since the 1970s, he served briefly as Club Secretary in 76-77. He is pictured above, with fellow Ariel Square Four enthusiast, Jess Mallia.

Lee will be sadly missed by all at the club. Our condolences go to Lee’s family and friends.
